does any one know of an indoor area / sports centre that could be used in this weather? since the recession I dare say they would be happy for a little income. I for one don't mind paying just a small charge to play in the dry

I gave up looking.

You need somewhere Highgate sized, with a smooth but grippy concrete floor and no obstructions. We've played on wooden and plastic surfaces and they're always too slippy. Then you'd need to persuade the owner to let us use it for our wacky sport which could fuck it up. Then you'd need to persuade all the socialists that play for free to cough up £5ph each time they want to play.

That said, if you could find a suitable place, it would be awesome, and I reckon there are enough people within a few hours drive that we could organise regular mini tournaments or even a league.

Cambridge had a great court (far from perfect to play on, but awesome anyway) which they found through word of mouth. It was an ex supermarket or warehouse or something, that was gutted and due for demolition. They used it for a few years, even installed barriers and lighting, for nominal rent. If the weather is bad again on weds how about we decamp to the lebenese bakery and discuss a few ideas like lighting, beginners session, indoor area, etc?

I went past the court tonight and there are still no lights. I'll phone them tomorrow but I guess it is wishful thinking to think that they'll do it and the weather will be nice.
