Rat bike is a bike that is ratty. . . A bike where it maintaining a basic level of function is the first and only concern - mismatched parts, old, ugly, stupid or whatever, anything goes as long as it works.

I disagree about rat definition. I think with these at least 50% of the concern is making it look it ratty on purpose, celebrating a distressed theme for the sake of aesthetics.

Most rat bikes on here are actually really expensive, desirable bikes with very high end components.
