Good luck with this and hope those parts you just picked up from me clean up nicely as they will look good on this. Frame colour is magnificent.

Speculative ebay buy also came through better than I though nothing a bit of wet and dry paper can't sort out!

Ok so couldn't riskiest at least making it look a bit like a bike for the time being. Just have a few more bits to come before it's done hopefully by the weekend in time for a Sunday test ride fingers crossed...

why did you get rid of the decals??
-
• #10
Because i think I'm correct in thinking that most of these were ridden bare and those were modern decals. Figured if I was trying to do a periodish build then they needed to go.

Maybe it's just me but I liked it with the decals. Complemented the ?purple/pink? Rather well. But hey, maybe it's just me who likes it hehe. Kinda regretting not getting this frame now.. Always had an eye on this when it got posted here.. Good luck with the build! Subscribed.

Level your bars/saddle before you start with other parts.

Dibs on frameset if you decide to sell it.The original vitus decals were of really poor quality (and quite inconsistent in their placement, for that matter), no wonder most of them you see now come without them. Here are some NOS examples:

The ones ErikJonsson had put on it complimented the frame really well, though. -

Stunning looking and youve made the right choice with parts...

Especially like the hard to find Cinelli bars ;-)

Would go with Simplex retrofriction levers though - everybody stacked their Vitus with these...

Done!!! to a rideable level at least.. If it was christmas next week I'd wish for an original selle italia flite, but will stick with the £3 turbo rip off for the time being. Pretty pleased with it. Never had such a shinny bike!!
Ok so here it is just bought this vitus 979 from erikjonsson on the forum this week and now it's time to start thinking about a build.
Initially I was thinking of a compleat 600 ultegra built, but I got a but excited on ebay and bought a dura ace 7402 crankset and rear derailleur on a whim so might have to be a combination of the two now. If anyone has any ideas help or advice I would lve to hear it.
Cheers.
Mike.
