I have a 500 and a shorter arm cantilevering it off the bar, should be OK. This one is only going on the rollers anyway, as long as I can get a K-Edge one for the race bike before the start of next season.
Garmins are tough - my 305 jumped off, went through the front wheel and bounced down the road at about 25mph and was fine.
