I had this problem last week, so I took it to the apple store looked angry, waited about 30 mins and had it replaced for free, also on my last macbook which was the last white model (remember the not so expensive ones), I had the same problem, so I got a cheap one from ebay, and it melted the side of it.

Oh that's worth knowing. My mac is one of the really old white ones, with the square edges and my brother was the original owner. Reckon I could look angry enough to get a replacement? Shame I'm not at home still, there's no Apple store in York, sigh. I've looked at the cheap ones on Ebay but was worried they'd be risky, definitely won't bother buying one now.

Those cheap ones from eBay are shit.
I got through 3 in 5 months. Better off splashing out for a genuine one -

sorry was a bit busy last night
i'll post a pic this evening
as it happens the one i have spare is original but the one i use was a cheapy from china off amazon, no problems and had it for ages plus i prefer it to the original as it's longer. the only other difference is the end doesn't light up on the chinese one.
i think the chinese one was less than a tenner and arrived in two days

Bump.
Still needing a charger (the one with the square end). Luckily can use the internet at work and phone at home but am really missing just having my laptop.
The cabling on my (albeit ancient) macbook charger has finally perished and even though it still charges, it takes the slightest nudge to stop the current flowing. If anyone has a spare charger lying around (I don't mind if it's got the white or silver end), I will gladly take it off your hands.
I looked online and on Fleabay they seem to go for about £30, but that's wayyyy more than I have to spend on a surprise computer malfunction. Would be greatly appreciated on the cheap!
Thank you in advance(!)
