  • Not for long :)
Brighton this week for me. Will be driving out from Bromley, if anyone needs a lift let me know.

  • Leave 30 minutes earlier than last year.

  • I'd be up for Brighton. It's Saturday, right?

  • Sunday, clashes with Hemel

  • Ah ok. Hemel it is then.

  • I was thinking about Wessex League (as down in London this weekend) as its the Saturday.
Its just outside Newbury, so probably train to Reading an a short enough ride over...

  • How is Brighton is in London League and Hemel Hempstead is Central?

  • The same reason that Fowlmead, near Deal, is in the London League, and Hillingdon, in the London Borough of the same name is in the Central League.

  • Exactly.

I think it's partly that the London League is misnamed, as it should really be the London and South East League, and partly because of the preference of some clubs to organise races in the league that more of their members compete in.

On the positive side, those of us living in London have easy access to a cross race most weekends throughout the season.

  • Dont they do some sort of winter enduro series at thetford forest may be worth looking into.

  • Any one coming up North for the Morvelo City Cross at Piece Hall, Halifax on the 9th? Signed up last week and have just put my deposit down on a Giant TCX SL2 2014, should be here next week!

  • I might do it if my talbots done in time, but its not looking likely

    Epic win thread >>>>

I think the SL2 comes with Spyre brakes, no?

I think the SL2 comes with Spyre brakes, no?

Yep those are the ones! I was tempted to try upgrade to the SL1 but an extra 1,200 is a bit of steep upgrade for a 1st cross bike.

Very much so looking forward to ragging this around! And excited about my first race too, won't be expecting much but the city cross stuff looks a lot of fun!

  • I'm probably gonna be at city cross.

  • Anyone keen for Wessex League today?
    12ish meet at Reading station?

  • Fitted a 35c tyre to my halo aerotrack rear wheel, and the tyre blew off when I had pumped it up, I made sure there wasn't a bulge as well, although I may have overinflated it.

Try again or accept the fact that 35c is probs a size too big for the wheel?

This is my first foray into cross, going to do the Rapha event at alexandra palace come the end of this month, the "fun" category with tequila shortcuts, foam etc

  • That went nearly as badly as it could.
I can't use my right hand currently. Bit of a combination of the course and the crash yesterday.
Quit after 3 laps, because I couldn't grip the bars, and was just adjusting to the tough circuit (long'n and quite technical) and had made up 5/6 places.

Beautiful day, good cake! (In fact great cake), good people, good course.
    Cotswold vanrejilden events, recommended.

A little disappointed with myself, but I barely made it back to reading, one handed and it's nearing exam season.
Ah well- next week back to ndcxl.

  • Oh no, heal up soon eyebrows. I saw you at the start and was going to DAS you at some point but didn't see you come around again by the time I'd finished packing the car. Well done for persevering for a few laps anyway, the course today was pretty tough, I had a little strop on the warm-up when I discovered the banks/run ups, scary as fuck for the first couple of goes.

What pressure? If it came off at > 50 psi that's not too unusual.

That went nearly as badly as it could. But at least I didn't get knocked off by some cunt in a BMW on the way home.

    FTFY ;)

Sorry to hear you didn't have a great day. Hope your hand heals up real quick.

Yeah it was definitely above that, I stuck another tube in this time and didn't inflate it as much and seems okay so far!

(Although I can't tell you the current pressure, valve on the new tube is too short, just long enough to put air in but can't read any useful pressure as it constantly leaks out when pumping.
    tl;dr need valve extender)

  • I wish I'd seen you, would've been nice to catch up.
How did it go for you?
some of those ups I just could not get the hang of at all.

Have most movement back, no feeling at all.
May ask to X-ray it on Monday if it doesn't get better.

  • Heal up soon fella :S
