• Hi,
I just won a pair of vintage Rigida DP18 rims (the ones with the old yellow-pink sticker, with smooth brakewalls) on *bay.

Does anyone know exactly what alloy (i.e. 6060,7002 etc..) they are made of?

Or does anyone have an old Rigida catalogue where the rims are described?

I need to know about the alloy as I am thinking about hard-anodizing them black, and this is something that cannot be done with any alloy in the same way.

  • ^ thanks, but unfortunately no vintage catalogue PDFs.

I have the feeling that I have seen such a thing in the past, or maybe it was just an scan of an old ad?

  • I've had a pair of those DP18s hard anodised with no problems.

There is a steel pin at the joint which should be covered during the process or it could be damaged.

  • good to hear - dmczone, I think we really have some things in common regardings wheels ;-)

did you really hard anodize them, or just anodize? did they turn out black, or was it more like a brown-grey?
