  • Oof, hope you're all alright RvL.

  • ^Good thanks - bruised shoulder but otherwise fine!

  • Not really. Morning after first day of strenuous exercise in months. Including gradients at the limit of what I can ride on my gear ratio. Don't lose any sleep on my account :)

Put the training in with regular drinks during the day last week, only a few beers yesterday and had to take train back to North London after lunch.

  • oh crap news Rik, hope you are okay...
    good to see you yesterday..

  • Cheers, good to see you too - by the way, was that an Airborne Ti you were riding?
Whatever it was, it looked classy!

  • Hmmmm...5k short cut ?

Nope just a disagreement between my phones GPS recording it to google tracks and Paragons 100% accurate measurement system. Infairness I did take the racing line on every corner regardless of oncoming traffic - probably saved about 5km.

Although I normally enjoy doing extra laps of the velodrome at the start.

I had a timing chip on my helmet so will have an official result when they are published, cracked straight on this year.

  • You could get a printout at the finish that showed your provisional time- the table to the right of the finish line with a screen on it and what looked like a calculator allowed you to query your time as soon as you finished.

  • @Tommy, 3:40 is pretty good - I rode home with some lads who reckoned they were 1st, 2nd and 3rd at chip times around 3:30-3:35.

    Then I'm still safe!

  • Fastest time for 2012 was a 03:21:07 from Andy Sansom.

  • ah balls. I got 3:23 the year before (which wasn't the fastest for that year)

  • I think I'd have had to have hurt myself fairly badly to get close to that.

    ("have" bingo!)

  • Mind you, I reckon doing it in a group would yield a much faster time than soloing it in the mid-section.

  • .... but of course is wasnt a race....

    #pfff

  • True. As evidenced by the speed at which I did it.

  • not quoting anyone.... just sayin like....

    peace

  • ...slammed sideways into a white van...

Ouch. Glad to hear you're ok!

@Ndeipi - I think I may have beaten you on the flapjack front, I bought 2x6packs from Tesco

    You utter pig.

  • Great ride yesterday. Saw OLC and a few other forumengers at the off and then Dammit at the end - I only did the short route this year. My mate broke a spoke coming back into town but apart from that, and the people carrier which nearly wiped me out 1 mile from the finish, it was a grand day out. Really impressed with the pasta and pint at the end. Spent the afternoon in the pub with Sniffy and our respective families. Lovely way to spend the day.

A bit of a longer ride report here:

Thanks Rik, Airbourne Valkyrie 2006. aka Golgotha....

  • Results are up

    http://racetimingsystems.net/Results/IndividualResults.aspx?Id=1535

I finished 32nd in the end with an official time of 3:39
Will be back next year hopfully on less drugs

  • 4.30 for me. Which means I go 32 mins faster with 19 extra ratios

  • Andy finally smashed it! Excellent. Every year I see him at the end he's always been blighted by punctures or other mechanicals, nice that he got a clean run.

  • Will be back next year hopfully on less drugs

    Shit cyclists never say >>>>>>>>>>>>>

  • Can't see my result on there, I'm pretty sure I did finish...

  • I think you'll need to change the distance drop down to 110km. You are down as 5:03 apparently...
