  • Waiting for the otter....

  • Forfeit.

  • We're on our way, although Scott was last seen heading to big hands after we left Sandbar.

    Remember challonge?

  • Well that was fun.

  • thanks for a good day to all. had a great time.
oh well scores and positions can only get better (hopefully).

  • Good weather!

  • Thanks Birmingham. Lots of fun. See ya again sometime.

  • Yeah I love these one day no-frills tourneys. Big weekenders are great too but I would love to see more smaller ones, especially if we can make it so that equally skilled teams show up. It felt like half of the teams could have won today. How often can you say that?

  • Can't believe I forgot to short shorts it in my first final, looking forward to seeing the footage, I can only remember you guys scoring once. Thanks though, really good day.

  • Yeah, there was some 'uncertainty' but everyone seemed to accept it and start going home... Surely someone was paying attention? If not, the video will be the first polo game video I will have watched from start to finish, and we can do a rematch sometime. Genuinely sorry if we stole it.

  • I can't remember who scored our goal, I was fucking shattered. It won't have been your fault but none of us in the polo bus could remember your second goal. A rematch would be fun, then we get to keep your pants right?

  • Thanks Brum for a mint day. Really enjoyed the polo. Nice people, nice atmosphere and perfect weather. My highlight was our hard-faught last game agains the tigers. Damn you Rob Stoner. Damn you. Let's have some more one dayers!

  • That was a fun game.

I remember scoring one glorious goal. So glorious it should have been worth two... Was anyone watching the game?

  • well as a first timer / newbie , I had a great time thanks to those who organised it .
yes I know some one has to come last but it just means I can only improve. you never know my tiny wheels may grow to man size next competition.
I think the only thing we missed was a BBQ and bar - oh well next time.

  • I remember hitting the post a lot, that should add up to one too. Hitting the fence should be worth one for comedy value, we'll do rock, paper, scissors for it.

  • Great day of no frillies polo - tough workouts against Shootin' Loads; Ady and Caspar and of course the final! Would have loved it going to a rejoust GG for an epic finale but it wasn't to be - dyscalculia seemingly rampant in Birmingham! ;-) Thx to my tigers - Rob worked himself into the ground and Adam forlornly tending the sticks.

  • Yeh great tourney- thanks to all the people who subbed into my team today!

  • Thanks for the games Brum! And thanks to my awesome teamies, Ben + Chris. Looking forward to seeing Monty in Sheffield - when're you moving up, dude?

Pretty sure Dan got 2 in the final, one punchy shot from just in front of the crease, and one where he sped down the left wing before sticking it through Adam's BB from a tight angle.

    Ahem.

Anyway, thanks to everyone for a swell day. It was lots of fun. Reckon we'd be happy to organise something similar in Bristol if people were up for travelling.

    This sounds familiar...

    Definitely!

We were keen to show that tournaments can be as much fun to play in with little or no preparation (although maybe we went a step to far - three sheets of paper!) If you've got a court and goals, there's not much you need to do. And the 'one-day, cancellable, 8-10 similar teams' concept makes it really attractive for people to come to.

I guess in Bristol's case, it can't really be free because of your court costs. But I for one would be happy to write off £5-10 rather than drive a few hours and stand around in the rain...

  • Oh, how did people feel about the crease rule and its effect on the games?
