You could just go for mtb clipless rather than road. You can pick up a pair or specialized BG sport in good condition for about £30 on ebay - there always o there if your looking for a cheap decent entry level mtb shoe. Once you've worn down the lugs from walking around, just buy another pair - That's what i do anyway.
