"chunky" , the seat tube is too large/small ? , worried about fucking the seatpost?

Yeah. I've got a a 27.2mm seatpost, but the seat tube requires a 31.6mm one apparently. Definitely concerned about fucking up the seatpost, as it's quite a nice one.

Yes, you need a shim, ask at any decent bike shop. Personally I'd go for the plastic option - whats the point of paying for a carbon seatpost and then remitting the weight saving by using a heavy metal shim?
Plus it's less likely to chip/scratch the post and introduce a weakness.

Thermoplastic shim should do you , they do quite long ones too whereas the metal ones tend to be shorter

That's what I've seen elsewhere too, and have now bought a Use thermoplastic one off CRC. Cheers for the info!

worried about fucking the seatpost?
Best place for it.
So, I got a nice carbon seatpost but noticed the seat tube is quite a bit more chunky. My question is should I shim? And if so, should I get one of those thermoplastic or a metal ones?
Will I need to tighten the seatpost and shim a bit more? Bit worried about overtorquing stuff.
Cheers for your help you lovely people.
