Decided to take the plunge and go straight in into build my first ever road bike. I have bought a Gazelle champion mondial AA special from evo533 which is currently being repainted. I am now starting to look into parts for it. I am going to go for a classic look with silver plated components and so need your help in picking reasonable priced but good quality components.
The first one I am looking for is an 1inch threaded headset. Any suggestion? I know campagnolo does ones but it is a bit price ~£50, planet-X as an FSA TH-365 Duron X Headset that looks interesting but not sure if it will fit as it looks taller than the standard 36.5 stack height.
Second are a good pair of wheels. I have been looking to the campagnolo branded ones which seem to have quite good reviews. But most of them don't come in silver. Is there are any good available on the shelves? Or will I need to have someone building them for me? If so any recommendation for hubs, rims and spokes compatible with campagnolo?
Thirdly I am looking into a quill stem, handlebar and seatpost. Nitto seems to be highly recommended but pricey, I will pick a noodle dropbars, but still indecisive on the others. Any suggestions?
As for groupset will probably pick campagnolo veloce or athena depending on the funds at the time. I am taking this as a long term project. Question is does the 11speed athena requires a special freehub?
