I could do without the revisionist history of Clough as well.
The task was: Bring the debt down, if you get offers you can't refuse don't refuse them.
We're not a big club, we never have been. We once punched above our weight. We don't have the ability to support big paycheck players. Clough, whether through necessity or design, brought in the youth players.
It was dour and it wasn't exciting and he really did start to hate Forest and all they stood for (good lad), but this is a man who spent 10 years at Burton and refused to leave until he thought it was time. And look at them.
