I know what you mean about Carthy. Apart from his voice deteriorating of late his Guitar style is quite amazing, unique in its sparsity . He leaves a lot of spaces and uses silence and single notes while playing and singinging. Unlike Simpson who (over-) embellishes his playing making him sound too flash.
