My 85W charger has broken for my Macbook Pro 17". Now I do have apple-care, but my sister decided, without asking and without any electrical experience or knowledge to try and fix it herself.
Unfortunately she could not fix it and Apple will not replace it as it's been tampered with.
I've seen cheap/genuine versions of the adapter on eBay (£37) but, "is it safe"? I've heard I could damage the mother board with an incorrect AC Adapter.

Or do I bite the bullet on a £65 replacement?
