Carbon frame = shimmed
Steel frame = need to be reamed

Coke can shims will stop slippage, but if you run the wrong size seatpost for long enough you may crack your frame as the seatpost isn't supported all the way down... they tend to go round the front of the seat tube. I wouldn't do this on a decent frame, esp anything with thin walled tubing.

My lemond had the right size seatpost and it still slipped. tried tightening the seat clamp, up to the point where it snapped. BC guy put some paste on the seatpost that contains plastic granules. That stopped it.

Has anyone used a shim on a 27.2 post in a steel frame to success?
Mine seems to be slipping a 1cm every mile, then slips completely!
has anyone got a brothercycles frame and had a problem with the seatpost slipping down when its fully done up?
my seatpost is ruined now because it slipped and then i pulled it up and it scratched to buggerey!!! bugger
