Not getting on the moral high-horse here, but she wants to make a living relying on the intellectual property rights of her work, hence violating other peoples right to do the same isn't exactly the right way forward, even if we are talking about an evil multinational corporation... I was merely hoping to save myself some bike and beer moniez, but as "her highness" doesn't do second best at the end of the day I would rather... I don't mind... I reluctantly choose to pay.
Also I'm very keen on the idea of month-to-month subscriptions, in fact I'm applying that very principle to all financial help and support she'll be getting from now on...
Thing is Adobe is one of those companies that actually is killing the future generations of talents, in my opinion. Their software is so so expansive and so if there isn't any alternatives to get a copy (I am not saying it morally correct), then how could a 15 years old kid who makes work in his bedroom have the right tools in expressing his talents? The only thing they are doing right is student discount, but the criteria is not as easy as waving your student card, like a-level students are not entitled to, not everyone can afford no go to uni anymore. I am luck that I get a lincese from work, but not everyone is. It's very humble of her to want to protect IP and all, but at the end of the day, companies likes Adobe can afford to lose a few. Big design comapnies and universities have no choice but to buy from them. Again, this is my personal opinion. The monthly subscription will actually probably work out being more expensive and it's a never ending thing. It only cost very little to get a student copy of Photoshop CS6 and you get to keep it until Adobe say we stop supporting it, with the CC aka CS7 you never truly own a copy and will forever be paying. It works for people who always update to their latest version of everything, but I know people whow are still using CS3 happily... Anyway, I don't know why am I moaning again. Bottom line is, when I was at uni, IP was everything for me, I refuse to sell work to x, y and z. 5 years later, being able to pay my rent comes first. And of course bikes...
