Europe, the US and Canada and Oceania all publicly backed Cookson, presumably some of the smaller nations backed McQuaid, certainly Thailand and Morocco did, and someone from St Kitts or something wrote a letter slagging off Cookson, rather ironically comparing his campaign to Apartheid. McQuaid must have loved that.
