  • The sizing on the box for the merino base layer is ; medium = 38-40 ins chest / large = 42-44 / and xl 46-48 . Fit wise I'm a XL in most of my other cycling tops but Aldi L was perfect . There's plenty of stock in the Feltham store also.

  • Success! The 'rents managed to grab me two ladies merino base layers, some long johns, leg warmers and overshoes and some socks. £67, happy with that.

Cheers, looks like the medium would probably come out a touch too large. Which is mildly annoying.

  • Swanley Aldi have a stack load of stuff and its open to 9pm. My wife has just got me some winter trews / gloves and lights (did not need any merino)...

  • DO NOT BUY THE WINTER TIGHTS.

The chamois is in the wrong place. It's too far forward (as you might be able to speculate from the photos, meaning it comes up the front of your crotch, and doesn't actually reach your arse.

    Going to return mine.

  • Thanks...

  • Fuck. Don't get paid until monday. Looks like there gonna be fuck all by the time I get paid. Looking for a merino top (L) & (XL).

You're wearing them the wrong way around.

  • Anyone able to report if there's anything left at Tottenham before I set off from Bethnal green?

  • Loads left in Cross Hands.
If anyone really desperately wants some of this stuff and can't source any locally, I can pick it up tomorrow and meet in London next week (Wednesday eve.).

  • the £3 lights are surprisingly bright, bought two pairs just for taking to the pub. Also some of their winter gloves, and a merino jumper thing. it all seems decent for the price.

^True. Mine are also going back tomorrow.

Hi Dan, it's your future self.

Turns out there will be plenty of most of this stuff left in the Tottenham Aldi, with the exception of the men's merino tops. You'll buy some merino tights, a 'compression' top that will make you want to lose a stone when you try it on and one of the winter jackets and form the impression that the quality seems OK.

Also, Tottenham's changed since you stopped working there at the start of the year. It has a Costa Coffee now.

Oh, and we need to talk about your over-sharing on the internet.

  • Ha ha I had exactly the same experience with the compression top! My increasingly beer-addled gut is not a pretty sight as I slowly descend into skinny/flabby territory.

I also tried on my leg warmers whilst wearing just boxer shorts and the combination of clingy leg and free floating junk was strange but enjoyable.

    Sorry.

  • surely that's present Dan talking to his past self.

Bro do you even butterfly effect.

  • Got a couple of pairs of socks (seem a bit thin but willing to give them a try) and Gloves (which seem excellent). Bought a pair of Merino tights for the missus, almost all the mens merino stuff was gone. Also added my food shop and got £5 off with a voucher from yesterday's daily mirror as the total was over £40.

  • Went in the Plymouth store today. It was a bonanza - middle aged men fighting over clothing. First time I have ever gotten a rush of adrenaline in an Aldi.

Got some gloves (went for large, I don't have big hands but the mediums were very small), leg warmers, winter jersey and some women's merino long johns. There was hardly any mens merino stuff left so I had a peak at the womens stuff and it seemed pretty unisex so thought what the heck.

  • To add; I've just tried the womens merino long Johns and they don't look out of place on male legs let me tell you. I got the medium and I am usually a 30-32 waist. fits fine. Also the winter jersey looks like cheap lycra on the outside but it is has a really comfy fabric on the inside lining - also an elasticated waist band which keeps it from riding up. Really impressed with the quality for how it is.

Out of male merino stuff = give the womens gear a try.

  • My wife has picked up the mens long johns for me and a ladies top, if it's no good there is another aldi down the road that I'll try later or tomorrow.

  • I got a set of merino baselayers yesterday. Got there at 8.20am and got the last mediums. The couple in front of me at the checkout spent £250 on three of everything.

  • Nothing left when I went. Just a sports bra. What you gonna do. It was cheap.

  • I got a small winter jersey from Aldi last year and it's baggy as fook.

Strange as I have one of the jackets and had to purchase XL when all my other clothes are S or M.

  • There is still a fair amount left at the branch in Seven Kings (Ilford).
I would offer to go and shop for people but I have zero cash.

Was quite surprised at the hall we got even getting there so late in the day.

I got some mens merino long johns, bit baggy but fit nicely under some tights/jeans, merino jumper thing, long sleeve neon jersey, spoke reflectors and some cheapz gtr8
