  • If theirs an excess the guy might ask me for that but I don't think he'll extort me or anything

Sounds fair. Can confirm on the Kool Stops. Scraped together some pocket change for a pair when I was out of work more than a year ago. They were still going strong when a Foxtons estate agent wrote my bike of at the end of July.

  • Cheers for the tips, will deff look into these at some point.

No contact from the driver so unless I get a bill through the post I'll assume he was sorted.

  • ...are you for real?

  • .

  • Jozzle
Must admit, I'd rather pay his excess than make him have to shell out for new insurance. I feel pretty tight about the whole situation.

    Lynchman
    Que?

  • Possibly my bad... It's just that reading this thread and some of your posts in various other threads leaves me rather "confused" in lack of a better word, hence my question, are you for real?

    ftfy

  • Lol.
Is this my first bit of banter, am I part of the crew now?
    How do I get rep?

  • by not being a cunt

  • Right on track then ;)

  • So is this thread complete bollox, then?

  • No, this thread is very relevant. Unfortunatley a gifted few see things only through their ray-bans

  • It doesn't help that in the other thread you talk about punishing uppity cyclists by making them test their brakes when they cut you up while you're driving.

    So far cunt is winning.

That is a terrible thing to do, I've since read other posts from the OP on other threads and have withdrawn my initial response as a result.

I cannot fathom the idea of putting somebody else's life in danger purely because they've committed a minor traffic violation, making you angry. Especially as there aren't any consequences that effect you directly.

Though I'm amusing myself with the idea of the OP becoming angry due to somebody's actions outside the safety of a car. Perhaps someone pushing in front of him in a shop queue and the OP considering how to punish the offender, perhaps a cunning attempt to trip him as he leaves or maybe a shoulder barge to ease him into the path of a bus. Unlikely. In fact I suspect the OP would quietly wait not wanting to confront the offender, but in the safety of a metal box....

  • Register - you know that if you're behind someone and they get outbraked by someone driving like a dick in front of them causing you to hit them from behind it's still on you right? What caused the car to come to a sudden halt in front of you is totally irrelevant no matter what. You have to be prepared enough and far enough behind someone to stop in time if they have to pull up quickly or if they hit something. End of. So don't blur the argument with the car in front who drove away. You did the right thing stopping and swapping with the driver. The rest of this argument isn't standing you up in such a good light.

  • i find it funny that he knew about how shit the brakes were for a good while before
they're not exactly hard or expensive to replace

  • Good to hear you are ok. Also good to hear the driver wasnt a right ass about it. I'd pay up if it was my fault and if it was stationary traffic it probably is.

How fast were you going to go through the back window?!?

How about if the car is in the wrong lane? I was in the middle of 3 lanes, left and middle going straight and right turning right. At green the car in front started moving and I sped up and then suddenly car braked and indicated right and stopped as it waited for a car to give it way. I swerved but still hit the left side of the bumper and fell off to the side.

    Whose fault here?

  • Officially. Yours. It's yours. You have to leave space for someone to come to a halt. Sometimes people get caught out in the wrong lane. Don't get me wrong it could have happened to all of us and I'd have been pissed off if I were you but its your problem.

  • Register just saw your other post , it's c*nt's like you that make riding in london shitty sometimes

  • Glad to hear you are ok Register. I agree with EEI, and chris, make contact reassuring the driver that you are alright. Explain your financial situation, but say that you will pay for the damage when you can afford it. Being honest and covering his cost so that he doesn't need to make an insurance claim is the best way forward.

As a driver, I'd prefer someone to offer me a payment plan as opposed to a claim. Shit happens. As long as I could afford to cover the initial bill.

    Something about driving<<?!?!?

I can't drive. I'm not sure where that came from pretty sure I never mentioned that.
I imagine Cnut Cyclists who follow traffic laws correctly can be a hindrance to the London Cyclist but this particular one resides in Leeds.
    #bemused

I think I've misrepresented myself along the way....

How fast were you going to go through the back window?!?

Not very, its toughened glass so it just shattered.
Rear windows can shatter from the heat coming through the rear window heater I remember smart cars had this problem when they first arrived.

But yeah, I am at fault as the 'crasher' rather than 'crashee'.

  • LOL!

    .

so the below wasn't you ?...

I get aggressive at other cyclists, I'm a much more aggressive pedestrian with motors.

If you consistently cut me up to RLJ and then look back to see where I am as you're crossing a junction with a car in the central you need shitting up.
So there I go, nonchalantly, cruising up behind you. I see you're desperately trying to get away on you're new S-Works from Edinburgh Co-Op carrying your whole house on your back with your elbows and knees out swerving all over the place. I'll cut you up, as close as I can get to you. I wanna hear you screech just so I know your brakes work, just so I know you have the cognitive skills to know how to use them.
Better me than some chorley in his VXR astra.
I shouldn't do this but as someone who holds cycling quite dear these chumps get me irate.
Also, riding home, rush hour, GTFOH FUUUUUUU.
    getmeeeee?

  • As quoted.

    I don't drive.

  • So as a cyclist you cut up other cyclist to prove a point?

Well done. You sound like a right bell...
