Bit of info about rim width and why 23mm rims matched with 23mm tyres can be beneficial.

In response to questions via pm.
Please note: I am happy to re-rim the back wheel and am not charging extra to do this. I am an accomplished wheel builder and have built lots of wheels professionally for many happy customers in my daytime work. The buyer just needs to buy the replacement rim. If you get this work done yourself by a local shop after buying the wheels they are likely to charge you £30 or more to do it.
I would prefer the buyer bought the rim in advance though as I do not have the funds to do this up front, lack of money being part of the reason for selling the wheels.
Thanks.

Had interest from a couple of people on these but nothing solid and no dibs yet. Going to leave them here for a couple more days then I'll remove them to advertise elsewhere.
Get in touch or dibs if you are serious about wanting them. Thanks.

Are these still available?

Now removed from sale here. For sale elsewhere. Thanks.

After a lot of people being interested elsewhere and then going silent one after another these are now back up for sale here. Price drop too but can no longer do the re-rimming as it seems to be too complicated for people to want to buy a rim and get it sent to me up front to do the work. Also fairly short on time at the moment.
So, new price of £200 now including postage to the UK.
PM if interested. Thanks.

Finally got around to putting a brand new rim on the back wheel. It's the offset rim for added stiffness. Have also had new good quality bearings fitted throughout including free hub, so they are now back up for sale. Rim cost me £60 so will sell the wheelset posted (uk mainland) for £230 if anyone is interested?

Hey
Is the rear rim the same as front one now ?
Cheers -
• #14
It's a velocity A23 like the front one yes. But the rear specific one where the spokes are set slightly off centre to make the dishing less extreme on the drive side. Means that the spoke tensions are more similar on both sides of the wheel giving a stronger, stiffer, more responsive wheel. Label on new rear rim is newer logo though, but can be removed easily.

How about £200 ?

I've just put a £60 rim on them and fitted new cartridge bearings that cost in the region of £60. They were a £400 wheel set when Strada were selling them in that configuration.
I really can't afford to sell for any less than £220 as after postage and rim and bearings cost I'll be hardly getting anything for them.
If you're happy for £200 plus the cost of postage then I can do that. Guessing postage is going to be about £20 though because of size when packed, so would be about £220 all in.

Pretty great deal at 220.

Yeah, great price. Sadly can't justify a new wheelset atm. Somebody buy these!

No one?

These are now sold. Thanks

The are now not sold again. So up for sale again...
Got royally messed about.
I've ended up totally rebuilding the back wheel so it's all NEW! ...
NEW a23 rim laced to a NEW lightweight but sturdy 11 speed (8,9,10 compatible with spacer included) Novatec hub. Shimano splined freehub, totally new and unusedFront wheel is same lightly used condition as first listed with no appreciable rim wear and new bearings fitted.
I can't believe I've had so much hassle trying to sell these. They're an amazingly nice to ride wheel set, 23mm rim profile feels great with 23mm tyres, very light and now with a NEW back wheel. If I could afford to keep them I'd be riding myself.
The pair are £220 plus postage to UK only.

- And just to note, I would have used a Strada hub again on the rear but they no longer make their own and now use the Novatec instead, which is almost the same as the Strada as far as I can tell.

- Lightweight QR skewer included for rear wheel (came with the new hub) but no skewer for front wheel as it didn't come with one and I'm keeping my security skewers. Can probably dig out a QR skewer from somewhere to go with it if needed though.

Postage estimated at £17.
I'll drop price to include postage at £220 if anyone is interested?
Front and rear Velocity A23 rims on Strada hubs laced with DT Swiss spokes. 24 DT Revolution spokes radially laced on the front and 28 DT Competition spokes double cross laced on the back. Velocity Velo plugs fitted instead of rim tape.
Front wheel : 670g
Rear wheel : 850g
23mm rim width clinchers to fit 23mm+ tyres.
Amazingly responsive and light. Very comfortable to ride. 10 speed Shimano splined freehub.
New cartridge bearings recently fitted including upgraded SKF cartridge in the rear DS.
Caveats : The rear rim is worn and could do with re-rimming. I am happy to re-rim it if someone provides the A23 replacement rim. I’ve knocked £50 off the price I want for them to account for this. Also there are a few marks on one side of the front hub where I had to remove a bearing cartridge that came apart. Nothing that affects running though. This is visible in on e of the photos below. There are a few indents on the freehub body from a couple of the sprockets also visible in one of the photos below. This is fairly normal and again doesn't affect the function of the hub. Other than that they are in good condition with new smooth bearings.
These wheels built up by Strada Wheels sell for £295, and now they use the cheaper slightly heavier Novatec hubs. When they were building them up with their own lightweight Strada hubs (like the ones I’m selling) they were about £400.
Please note these were not built by Strada. I built and maintained them myself and they have had under a year of use (on a leisure riding bike, not a commuter).
See http://www.stradawheels.co.uk/shop/velocity-a23-wheelset/
and

for info about the rims and hubs.
Selling for £220 plus postage for the set. Collection /viewing welcome in Bristol. Buyer is also welcome to arrange their own courier.
PM if interested.
Thanks, Adam
