  • Greetings and love folks,

Well what a lovely bike filled weekend it has been for yours truly. On Saturday night I went to Brixton Cycles' 30th birthday party - yes keeping the wheels turning since 1983! I played roots rock reggae from 9 to 10 as a thank you for all they have done for me over the years...

Then Sunday I went in to town to check the Tour of Britain. Went to Whitehall about 2.30 pm to see all crowds, promo stuff etc which was nice. Then went over to the City as this part of town is very quiet on the weekend. So got a great spot just by Cannon Street where we could see them go past one way and then back again. Though the crowds were thin (which was what I wanted...) the atmosphere was great which is something I love about watching cycling.
There seemed to be a breakaway of 4 or 6 riders with a two minute gap and then this gradually went down to 1 min and then on the next time we saw them there was only two riders left, then surprise surprise the peleton swallowed them up.

Once they had gone past for the last time. I along with many others rode the route in to town.
A few of the stewards were getting a bit over zealous - give someone a hi -viz vest and the power goes to their heads.... But most were cool and many of the crowds were cheering us on.

Then checked out all the buses and lorries etc on Westminster Bridge - big crowd around the Team Sky Deathstar. Got a round of applause from the police for my trackstand on the southside of the bridge whilst I waited for the lights to change - well I'm paying their wages...

Win for Cavendish on the day - hat trick for the week and the Golden jersey (to add to his sideburns) for Wiggo,so a great day for British Cycling. Also noticing a lot of kids wearing sky jerseys etc like football shirts, so this must be good news as more people get into the sport.

    Peace and love,
    Tim
