• Totally standard 3-speed Raleigh Stowaway in excellent condition.
1 lady owner before I bought it for my Mrs.
It had been standing unused in a garage for about 25 years when I got it. It had 2 totally perished tyres (with new tread) and was covered in about 2mm of oil, grease, dirt & cobwebs.
The frame and all shiny bits were all in really good nick underneath. There are a few scuffs to the lovely pea-green paintwork but nothing major and no corrosion
All parts were removed, degreased, cleaned, re-greased and replaced.
I treated it to a front rack, which cost £30 (matching rear rack is included in the sale along with the original Pletscher sprung rack that's fitted), brand new Raleigh whitewall tyres, tubes, rim tape, inner and outer cables (I salvaged the original cream ribbed gear outer cable as it was in good nick). Aside from these, all parts are the original ones that came with the bike, including the bell!
Sturmey Archer 3-speed hub & shifter work perfectly as they should.
My girlfriend has ridden it about 5 times since it was restored and has admitted that now she has returned to Uni she's going to be commuting on her 'proper' bike and will probably never use this again.
So it's up for grabs and ready to ride away.
Unless you can find a NOS one, I can't imagine there are many nicer original examples than this.
