Just up the road from me. It's on the A2, not a cycle super highway, and traffic can get a bit congested at that point when it's busy as the road narrows to get over the railway bridge.
Hope the rider gets well soon.

This was around 9pm when there is no congested traffic, apparent hit and run, driver subsequently arrested for dangerous driving. Outside of central London really can be a horrible place to ride, so many aggressive drivers. Hopefully the cyclist makes a full recovery. Speaking as s a local who was run down last year in the area, any news would be welcome.

The man involved has sadly passed away and is being reported as a pedestrian not cyclist. http://www.newsshopper.co.uk/news/10685531.Update_New_Cross_Station_crash__man_dies_after_being_hit_by_BMW/?ref=mr
Police are appealing for witnesses. Thoughts are with all friends and family.

Are we sure that these are the same reports?
They appear very different
New Cross - New Cross Gate
BMW - VW polo
Cyclist - Pedestrian? -

Seems strange that both incidents happened in the same spot (NXG Station) on the same night (15th Sep) with both drivers being arrested at/just after the scene, victim described as 'middle-aged' in one and 'in his 40's' in the other. Logically the likeliest explanation is miscommunication somewhere either from the press or police.
