NurseHolliday: was this on Farringdon Road going north this morning, near the Eagle and just by the zebra? If so it was me that stopped on my bike and spoke to you briefly. I was going north too and rode past at what must have been just after it happened. Once I'd reached the Roseberry Av. lights I doubled back to see if you were ok. Possibly too late on the scene to be a witness of any use, but I can vouch for the fact that there was the front of a taxi sitting on your crushed back wheel when I first rode past. One of the more bizarre incidents I've seen... I'll PM you.

Hi everyone, I'm new here.
I was knocked off my bike this morning on Hackney Road, E2, London. I was hit from the side by a driver coming from a side road joining oncoming traffic. I was overtaking a traffic jam and she popped through a gap on the left and hit me on my left side.
I'm not hurt but my bike is buggered in a few places. I called a accident solicitors but they said they could only help if I was personally injured. I called the police straight away and got a crime reference number. She refused to accept responsibility claiming I shouldn't be overtaking the traffic. What should I do, how can I get reimbursed for the damage to my bike?
Thanks, any advise much appreciated.
That whole road was a traffic jam this morning! Saw a few near-misses of this type as drivers got frustrated and performed 'interesting' maneuvers.

Excellent Austrian cycle path suddenly turned into deep gravel and front panniers make skid recovery difficult.Excellent beer helped with recovery. It hurt pretty bad at the time and I was worried I had made a clavicle error. Fortunately just some nasty bruises.
Oof looks really painful. Heal up soon!

^^ Just pm'd you. Hope the cab driver is coming good on paying for that back wheel (and always check for any other damage). From what I saw he can't have had much of an excuse.

I went to the police station at lunch. They said there is nothing they can do as I wasn't hurt. The damage to the bike is not their problem and only an insurer can help.
Is filtering on the outside illegal? If she drives into the side of me, is she to blame?

It's not illegal and is preferable to filtering on the inside afaik...

Make a complaint to the station sergeant, and follow it up as much as you can. You will have to push very hard, or the police will casually forget about it entirely. Speak to a constable, not a civilian. Is filtering on the outside illegal?
Not explicitly or specifically. If she drives into the side of me, is she to blame?
Blame tends to be entirely contextual. In the case of filtering, courts have been know to apportion blame on the cyclist also. -

I've made a claim with her insurance company, promised a call back in the next few days.

Was eased off my bike by an undertaking minicab trying to go straight on to St Georges Road from NKR in the right hand lane on E&C roundabout at 7:40 am WAC.
Wet tarmac = minor grazing to elbow and knee and a cracked helmet; no warning so luckily didn't have a chance to get an arm out for clavicle error.Spent 2-3 minutes calling him a cunt and didn't get a plate or even remember the vehicle model.

Right brifter twisted round the bar a bit and I think rear derailleur may have taken a bash but all still shifting OK.

Cctv?

Ouch! Glad you got off relatively unscathed, Steve.

Cctv?
No here's the streetview and there is nada plus alot of tree cover even if there was one on the buildings.
Basically I was just to the left of where the blue van is and turning right so when mincab goes straight on from same position I haven't got a hope.

Last night whilst cycling in the rain, a car coming from the opposite side decided to turn into a road ahead of me and not indicate. I went flying over my handlebars and face down onto the road :( to his credit, he did get out and help me off the ground and to the side of the road. Unfortunately my handlebars are bent out of shape and the front light is wrecked. Other than a few bumps and bruises im a-ok.
Weirdly enough i got doored a few months back in exactly the same place. Exactly the same. -

Did you get his details? What are you going to do about ruined parts?
