• Bit of a long shot as I know lots of people are looking for exactly the same thing as me right now but here goes anyhow:

Looking for a steel lugged British touring bike (531 if possible) with cantilever brakes (again if possible)

maximum 56 / 57 cm seat tube (c-tt), if possible short top tube.

Bring out those Dawes, Raleigh Royals, Dave Yates, Coventry Eagles, Dalesmans!

Would also consider an early lugged mountain bike with 26" wheels and rack etc. if anyone has one lying around? - Dawes Ranger etc.

I do have a 56 / 57 cm (something like that, steel early 80's ish Woodrup road bike in red with a Super record headset brooks pro and mostly shimano 600 kit if anyone's interested in swapping??

  • Here's a glimpse of the Woodrup in question, (in foreground) only pic I have at hand but you get the idea

  • I have two

Claud Butlet Majestic- but needs a new front wheel- 22.5"

FW Evans/ Saracen MTB- have a look on Retro bike and you can find pics of one there. 19 seat tube but a huge top tube.

Both need a bit of work to get road worthy

  • ^ Liking the sound of them, especially the Saracen, any pics?

  • Both in the attic- give me a day to get them out

Did you want the full bike or not? I ve the parts in both case to make a full bike, except for the front wheel. The Evans has a rack..

  • The Evans can be found on this thread on retro bike

Not the actual bike but that's what mine looked like..
