Birkbeck College

  • Anybody here either studied there, or currently doing so?

I'm beginning a course in October so I'm interested in any thoughts/experiences of combining work and study, and on Birkbeck life in general.

  • I'm studying for an MA in the evening, and it seems alright to me. Not around in the day, but there are plenty of people milling around, so probably a decent community.

Main tip: the coffee in the little stationery shop downstairs is about a third the price of that in Costa, and seems to taste better too.

  • thinking about making an application here too. does anyone know what time the evening lessons tend to start?

sorry - Seak, you should know!

  • Doing a Bsc in Biodiversity & Conservation, 6-9pm two nights a week. I also work about 40-50 hours a week as a bar supervisor. The two can clash at times but mostly I manage...
A fair few bike thieving scrotes about, make sure you have two decent locks and secure your seat/post/etc

  • I reckon they start about 7. Makes for a long day, couple of hours in a lecture, with work beforehand. But it's only a couple of evenings a week, so hopefully manageable. Good heads-up on the coffee Seak

  • Gona resurrect this for a sec. Does anyone here go to Birkbeck college?

I'm going back for the third and final year of my degree in Oct. I was meant to finish last year, but i ended up deferring. Basically all my mates have graduated and left and i will be back at knowing no one. So if any of you cycling chums go there and fancy a friendly chat/ fag/ coffee/ cycle/ hitting the books/ or by some kind of miracle you're on my course (Philosophy BA) please let me know. It would be cool to make friends in my old age.

    Cheers.
