  • I re-pressurised my boiler this afternoon. It is via an external filling hose like in the pic above. All went fine, but the valve on the boiler has not closed properly after filling and is thus leaking / slight spurts. I am guessing it is a fairly standard one way affair. The open/close valve to allow the mains water in is on the mains side and there is not an option to open/close on the boiler side.

Teh internet suggested a bit of muck may be stuck and not allowing it to close. The suggested fix is to give it another quick blast of water to dislodge whatever is there and then the valve should close ok. I've done this twice but to no avail. I am now leaning towards thinking that I might need a new valve. Moar internet wisdom suggests this means I need to drain the system to fit it - something I wouldn't fancy my chances of getting right.

The problem is not exactly fixed, but temporarily dealt with as the valve cap is a proper screw on job and I've tightened it with a spanner.

Dammit, if you happen across this, is that what you were referring to?

Also it will never, ever, close properly again and will leak until you turn to cheap gin to block out the "drip, drip, drip"

    Anyone else - any ideas?
Any plumbers fancy a quick cash job in New Cross Gate?
