What shape of drops do you find comfortable? What do you want them for?
I like compact ones. I don't think ergo ones are that comfortable, they are ok, but I like compact's more. I have ergo ones on two of my bikes. I think the FSA ones are better than the bonti ones.
I also found a set of classic shaped cinelli ones with internal cable routing and a short distance between the flats and the drops. I like these too, as I didn't want the levers too far away for comfort, but needed a non-OS clamp and something classic looking.
If I was touring, I'd be tempted to try something like the randoners. If I was riding in the city on a classic bike, I'd probably plump for the noddles.
I have also heard of some people who find ergo bars really comfortable. And there are others who rock track drops, and I guess some of those like them too.

Anatomic bars are ugly.
Plus, as they reduce the amount you can move your hands around in the drops, not very anatomic ROFL.

Oh is this just about looks?
If it's just looks, then anything except ergo/anatomical as they are the most hideous shaped bars ever made.

What shape of drops do you find comfortable?
Ride it, tried it, then decided which shape you like the feel of.

For me the Nittos look like you could put your hands in the 'just behind hoods' position, with your palm on the bend. This is the position I used all the time when I had some lever-less drops.
Doesnt look so doable on the anatomics.
So it would be a no brainer.

Cheers, I feel the same... there is something not quite right about the anatomical drops.
Tried both bars and they both ride OK. Nothing too bad about the anatomicals,
except that Fuji have a very heavy corked and padded style tape.
But aesthetically, they curse my eyes every time I look at them.Just wanted to know if it was me or if others felt the same way.
Really not sure if to go long noodle or tight B123 ? -

Consider your favourate hand positions. I know mine would'nt be good on the 123. I've swapped to bull horns, positioned to replicate 'on-the-hoods'. They look shite on the bob, but its were my hands want to be.

You could try and put brake hood levers on it to get more position like Smallfurry said (riding on the 'hood).

I've got a Plug with bullhorns for commuting, love it. The reason for the drops on this Fuji is speed. Want to bust a gut, and my hands feel good in the drops at speed. This is a track bike after all. Just want to travel about a bit, rather than going around in circles.
I definitely will need to ride on the hoods, vary it up a bit. -

compact

if you're stuck inbetween anatomical and classic, go for compact, the drop is shallower yet comfortable to hold onto for a longer period of time, and the top section is nice and flat to rest your hand on (with brake hood).

circles.
Ovals.

Ovals.
yeah, going around in ovals... bit like going around in circles in overalls.

Why are they so admired? Is it a brand thing or an aesthetic issue ?
I wish I knew.
Hello,
Just unboxed a 2010 Fuji track classic. Not so sure I like the look of the anatomical handlebars. Wanted a second opinion... so anatomical or Nitto noodle ?
The Nitto bars are just a spare I had lying around, would coat them in black...
just to be boringly monochromatic. I really like the drop of the Nitto B123.
But at fifty penguins, thats a lot of waddle.
