  • All track league riders with less points than me to have stabilisers ;)

    On a more serious note.

With the increase in the number of riders taking part in TL. The time is right to make Monday nights part of the track league. C Racing combined with Aspiring Racer training.

And as Jason has done this year with judges, also make it a condition of riding Wednesday TL for the A's and B's act as judges on a Monday night.

And via British Cycling, Friends of HHV to run the one day assistant track commissaires course.

Not sure if I can make Wednesday's last TL, but this is what I'd be sponsoring.

  • As a separate note, my girlfriend has recently started doing the Mule Bar Girl Sunday sessions, I went to watch on Sunday and I have to say that I was really impressed. Not only do the coaches create a fun, friendly atmosphere but the actual quantity/quality of coaching and instruction the riders receive is fantastic. Every single person in the session left with a smile on their face.

Agreed, I'm quite jealous there isn't a session like that for men, but I know if there was it would be rammed and lose its worth.

  • do you not think that the opening of Lee Valley will take some of the pressure off HHV?

I expect that pricing for Lee Valley will be so high relative to HHV that it won't draw that many. I don't think I have seen pricing, but if Manchester is £11 London will almost certainly higher, so that means 2x the rate or more. If you go 1x a week that will add up quickly.

  • Anyway.... I've got a 600km bike ride starting in a couple of hours.

Grr. Hope it rains and headwind. Enjoy and ride safe.

Not sure I agree - but probably not the right place to discuss. It will be interesting to see what happens though.

  • Have HHV ever considered season long subscription instead of payment by session?

If fields were ever capped, priority could go to those who subscribed to TL for the season.

Dov, do you not think that the opening of Lee Valley will take some of the pressure off HHV? I suspect things will become a bit more 'normal' once that kicks off.
At the moment it seems like its bursting at the seams on a Saturday/Monday.

We are working super hard to make sure all girls - no matter their level of riding - are catered for this year, so great to hear good feedback.

Although they are fun sessions we are also trying to be really strict about track etiquette so it becomes automatic. I could not believe that one of the posts I read on the Sat training thread about a guy moving down the track with out looking just because the rider below shouted 'last man'. This scares me!

  • To be fair, Gaz is actually a very solid rider - would very happily take his wheel anytime. Just one of those things I think.

W, from what I saw the MBG running the session (sarah I think?) and the other two assistants were doing a brilliant job of keeping riders of all levels engaged. The coaching is spot on, and Sarah seemed very approachable throughout the whole thing.
I also thought that it was great to see them tackling things like madison hand slings (albeit gently on the warmup track) etc so early into their track 'career' - really breaks the fear of learning all that stuff later.

Hats off to you guys, was a great session. My girlfriend was buzzing after and looking forward to this sunday (hopefully the DC6 won't overrun and mess it up..)

  • Still no excuse for moving on the track without looking - don't care who you are and how long you have ridden for.

Fingers crossed the rain stays away for Sunday.

  • Would it be an idea to have a page on track etiquette on the HHV Website so people can brush up when at home?

I think something I could read on Saturday morning before I head over and bruch up would be nice. Or look at once I get hime in case I missed something.

Or is there a concern about people reading it, thinking they know it all and not observing instruction at the track.
