Dibs for chrisbmx116 by the way
-

Ahhhhh damn it. Sorry I thought it had the correct forks. I'm out.
-
• #4
This fork came with this bike. I had 2 different ones. The Merckx flats and these...These Aprebics have super tight clearance though and looks slick when build up.
-
• #5
If it was the flat crown it'd be a done deal..
-
• #6
why did they cut the tt if the damage was only minor? i do not understand..
-
• #7
why would they even?!
-
• #8
To ensure it gets professionally repaired rather than 'chanced' I assume?
-
• #9
Yes they (the bikeshop employer) did it so the bike could'nt be be ridden anymore and someone would fix it professionally or not at all :)
-
• #10
If you can find some flat crown forks for it please let me know...
-
• #11
Is there any other damage to the frame?
-
• #12
No other big damage...only the normal used damage as you can see on the pic...
-
• #13
Now I understand why chris has been hounding me for the forks...
-
• #14
I guess so.... These Merckx flat forks are really nice.. I got one on my wives mixte bike....
-
• #15
hi - how would one go about repairing the frame? I mean, you'd probably have to give it another toptube, right?
-
• #16
Toptube damage like that comes from head on crashes, and it normally comes with some Downtube damage too.
I have a Colnago that has some serious top/down tube ripples but i still ride it like the idiot that i am.
https://www.lfgss.com/picture.php?albumid=2649&pictureid=16121You can replace the top tube by unbrazing it from the Lugs and brazing in a new one. A double butted raw Toptube will cost about €15 and then add whatever it costs in labour for the brazing.

r0d, ot, but are you a fan of the dj you share your alias with?
-
• #18
rod then though
-
• #19
Toptube has to be repaired yes. I bet the easiest way is to use another toptube. To see the damage you have to check really good, thats the reason why I have not discovered any damage to the downtube....

No idea who the dj rod is m8... so no haha

http://www.bobjacksoncycles.co.uk/repairs_pl.php £70 at Bob Jackson, but the re-heating of the lugs will cook the paint of heattube/seattube.
So unless you're good with paint, then needs a respray also.
Which is £100 + decals.

**Please note that there is a small dent on the front of the toptube and thats the reason the toptube has been cut. **
