I don't think it's an adjuster, but simply a cable stop ferrule.
These may get you out of trouble, even if they are not pretty.

Yes I saw these but I they wont fit, they're much wider than usual cable end ferrules. these screw in to the body of the lever, which is why I think it's probably an adjuster. I've added a couple of new pics to show the threads.

You're right, and that isn't something I've seen before.
A stepped ferrule might allow you to use the levers, if the calipers have adjusters, depending on the internal diameter of the male threaded bit.
Got a pair of these DIa Compe Arx road levers the other day but one of the cable adjusters is missing. Does anyone have or can anyone tell me where I can get one from. Searched online but came up with zilch :-( Pic below. Thanks
