  • Probably. 10S8 has nickel plating on all links, not just the outer ones, and comes with a reusable Connex link making maintenance easier compared with the single-use Shimano joining pin.

Ta - will give them a go.

  • I'm staying in Swindon for a while as I'm between houses. Is there anything to actually do here/any good rides?

    not from my experience

  • The ride leaving Swindon.

Do not return, it will negate the effects.

  • Does anyone know where I can find a copy of that illustration that shows Merckx on his bike but his body is shown as a steam train?

My googlefu has let me down

  • There are some proper lovely roads and villages around the Cotswolds - rough idea to explore around, ride to Cirencester (15 miles-ish) and then take Roman Road NE towards Burford. This is a stunning route. Bibury/Quenington/Burford are all pretty wee villages for tea/cake/beer. Also loads of amazing wild swimming spots around here (Lechlade especially) and you can call in at the Cotswolds Wildlife Park in Burford if you like that sort of thing....

...you're also only a pretty 25 mile ride from Stroud, which is worth checking out, normally has plenty going on. Nice hills as well, if you like hurting yourself.

googled "merckx train" first page lol

Lots of nice riding to be done - I live in Marlborough so cover a lot of the roads to the south of the M4 near Swindon. Depends on how far you like riding but the lanes on the way to Hungerford from Swindon are nice. There are some disused railway lines around too if you like off-roading.

Ohh thats odd nothing for me, possibly because I was searching from my phone. Thanks though.

  • Has anyone got one of these Saris Bones bike carriers for their car? Are they as good as the reviews claim?

Thought it might be nice to go for a ride in the countryside without having to ride all the way to and from the countryside.

  • I've got one and I'd recommend it. It took a while to get it set up correctly initially, but once I knew what I was doing it became a five minute job to install it. I've never had any issues with it when transporting bikes.

I concur. My parents live between Hungerford and Newbury and the lanes out from Hungerford up to Aldbourne and west of their towards Marlborough are some of my favourites roads in that area.

  • Thanks Andy.

It does seem to be the best out there.

Go Outdoors has the Bones 3 on for £100 at the minute, about £30-35 cheaper than elsewhere, if anyone else is interested.

  • Will a 700x35c tyre generally fit in a 26 inch mtb fork?

  • Rigid, yes, suspension, probably

  • 26x2.5 is the same casing diameter as 700x32, a really knobbly 700x35 cross tyre might be a tight fit in some XC oriented forks

  • Need some advice.

I've bought a San Marco saddle, the Ponza Power version according to my order sheet. It arrived today but the saddle has only Ponza written on the side, the pictures show Ponza Power.

Anyone know if they are different? Or am I being a noob.

  • Paging Tester -

Will a Shimano Ultegra 6700 double chainset play nicely with a USE track chainring? They're both 130bcd so that's ok, but will the chainline be good?

  • The USE chainrings are specifically designed to give a track chainline with Shimano road cranks

  • that's all I needed to know. Thank you.

  • What full length mudguards can I put on this!?

As you can see there is no brake bridge to mount and the fork crown isnt drilled/has any provision to put mudguards.

If there was an MTB version of Raceblades that would've been perfect .. These look good but again need brake bridge mount: http://www.sks-germany.com/?l=en&a=product&r=mountainbike&i=11020&VELO%2065%20MOUNTAIN

  • So.. Umm. I found some packaged and sealed whale steak in my freezer. The date on the back is 28.08.09 - 26.02.11. Presumable that's when it expires (it's all in Icelandic). It's been frozen though. Would it really go bad?

(fyi, I'm vegetarian and not going to eat it. But it's a shame to waste something).

  • It's just a big fish, eat it.

  • you havent been living there that long have you? has it been defrosted/refrosted when you moved or was it left by the previous teenant?
