  • Sorry Guys, I am finally not going to make it. Couldn't sleep last night
    Enjoy your ride

  • Ha, record turnout.
25 down to 6 - rained a bit this morning, rest of the day will be beautiful.
    Leaving in 10.

Sh't it took me a while to find this market. No one is here :(

  • A small but beautifully formed group ride :-).

    Enjoy.

  • Ended up with 8.

Hard rain leaving London but now we are at the coast, the sun is shining and its hot.

  • Nice one John.

  • Driving back from Clacton to Alresford 3 hours ago I saw some fixie/ss bikes and I thought 'bugger, bugger, bugger'. Got my dates wrong and thought the ride was tomorrow. What a Muppet!

    That's a good size for a group.
Mostly miffed that my weekly mileage got the better of me and, as I suspected, the duvet wouldn't let go this morning.

  • Thanks for a great ride today MA3K. It's hard to believe I actually got sun burnt by the end.

Really good mix of riders too. I was in love with the cinelli vigorelli + spokk.

  • Great afternoon's riding. Morning was a bit shit tbh with the rain but once I dried out I really enjoyed rolling along. Nice group, nice size too. Cheers all, especially John for leading.

  • ^ oh did it rain? Not sure I recall.

    Yep, good day's ride.

2 short, sharp showers on the way down to Hackney. There were only 8 of us, but small numbers do make it easier! Yes, it did rain in the morning and by 11 o'clock I was sporting my own two paddling pools.

After our 20min sojourn at the shop the clouds overtook us and we had a dry run. Guess it's our own fault for being so swift!

Nice to meet Lee (didn't get forum name), Woah Cats (didn't get real name - please say that is your real name), and two others who I (as usual) didn't remember the names of. Also nice to catch up with Al (Vunugu) and glad to see you're healing up well. Lastly cheers to John and Chris for leading us with such aplomb.

Oh yes - John gets a REP for not 'avin a word wit the weather

Oh yes also, was the only mechanical on the ride my near fatal snapped bottle cage?

  • After the fish and chips I met my friend and had a couple of beers and caught the 7.00 pm train. I arrived home at 12.30am due to train breakdowns and missed connections! 106 miles with all the transfers on top of the ride. Up at 5.00 to do a car boot with my daughter and then to a birthday picnic. Now I'm heading off to the land of nod.
It must be 35 years since I've done anything over 30 miles on fixed, but I'm amazed that I feel ok and my knees are working.

Thanks for the great route and leading John. Ian thanks for towing me in the last few miles to the beach. A real gentleman.

Although I'm not London based I always enjoy the eclectic mix of forum members and the friendliness shown to strangers.

A pleasure to ride with you all.

Tim (grey giant - old and slow, me not the bike!)
