Wanted: Peugeot crankset

Posted on
  • I cross threaded one of my pedals on my Peugeot cranks, completely trashed the thread on my right crank.

Is anyone selling either a Peugeot chainset, preferably 52 tooth chainring, but am flexible... (Really want to match Peugeot cranks to Peugeot frame!)

    PM me with any offers!!

    Thanks

  • lenght, and particular model needed? pug used to install a few different ones.

  • Good point - not too sure where to measure from - they're 204mm end to end, 170mm from centre to centre... They're on a Tourmalet 14, but pretty certain they're not original...

  • SR made the older Peugeot engraved cranks (i don't have this any longer..sorry)

  • Yep, they look pretty swish - shame they're gone!

Can't find any on ebay at mo... any other places worth trying that you can suggest for this kind of thing?

  • I've got one, not as nice as the one pictured though! Mine is a 42, 52 but the 52 is permanately attached, is pantographed Peugeot though. Can dig it out for a pic if you're interested. Price £10 + £5 1st class recorded postage.

  • Pic would be great! Not bothered if the 52 chainring isn't demountable...

  • Ok I'll try to sort out a pic for you today or tomorrow although can't make any promises! Will be sometime soon though, I have just dug them out and the Peugeot pantographing is quite subtle.

  • This of any use ?

  • Same as mine Pino but mine is a 52, 45. One of the crank bolts may need drilling out though.

You'll notice the badge is a little fainter on the left crankarm.

  • To both Pino and Tel: Are either of you London based (around central)?
I need to experiment with a few gear ratios as I've only just started riding single, so quite keen to take both...
How much are you asking, Pino?

  • I am based in the Netherlands, which would make postage a major part of the costs.
    Total of 20 euro.

  • I'm in Kent ME12. I can reduce the cost of posting if I send second class unrecorded (no refunds - honest seller) - £12.50.

  • Tel, I'll go for yours for starters... Recorded delivery will be fine. Could you PM me payment details?
Pino - I'll come back to you once I figure out if I want a 50t...

    Thanks!

PS anyone reading this with a pair for sale like the ones Mr Bump pictured above, holla @ me plz!

  • Ok, this is truly a long shot, but while doing some googling after breaking the right crank on my old peugeot bike I found this thread and see someone based in the Netherlands, just like me, offering the crankset I'm looking for. It's been three years and Pino has not been on the forum for a long long time, but I would really like to find out if Pino still has it laying around somewhere, in which case I'm very interested. So I thought I'd try it anyway. I'm not allowed to send private messages yet as a new member to the forum, so i decided to respond in this thread.

Any other help is also very appreciated of course. The thing is I broke the crankset by trying to get it off the bike with the appropriate crank puller, and now I find it is very hard to find an alternative crank, because I am kind of forced to keep using the existing spindle as the bike is equipped with french threading for which I will probably not be able to find a new spindle. So I guess my option are either finding the same crankset that I had, or experiment with other cranksets until I find one that accidentally matches with both the spindle and the required chain line.

  • Anyone having a peugeot crankset as depicted by Tel and Pino and willing to ship to the Netherlands would of course be very welcome too. :)
