  • The competitive cyclist fit calculator is good, I had a bike fit and my position didn't really change at all, but he fiddled plenty with my cleats.

I have used the Competitive Cyclist system to fit many people for road bikes with good results (no complaints, no injuries), only one went on to have a pro bike fit and the only 'significant' change was to advise him to switch from 172.5 cranks to 170. I would always advise consulting an expert with advanced systems at their disposal if there are known injury problems or unusual physiological issues (odd length legs, foot deformities). The key thing with CC system is accuracy of the measurements and to that end they can only really be done with the help of another person IMO. I also find that other than elite athletes the reach to the bars is always a bit on the long side, and for all-round riding comfort/performance go for the so-called 'Eddy Fit'.
