Bit late for urgent help if your offer has been accepted.

Measure inside your frame's dropouts - what value in mm do you get?
-
• #4
If the rear wheel is smaller than your frame spacing you can always add some spacers.
-

I believe the new eBay rules say even if offer is accepted there is no commitment until/unless buyer pays.
You could have delayed payment until you were sure with no penalty.
Hope it works out.

Ignore me!

I havent paid yet, I will pay tonight if and when I check the width of the drop outs.
Thoughts on the wheels? Worth the dough? They were just too shiny to pass up!

Are you a fecking magpie?
-
• #10
Not quite but all that bling will surely look good on a newly painted frame!
Think the wheels are good?
-
• #11
They look like they are road which have been converted to single speed, so no fixed unless you run suicide.
-
• #12
The hubs are old screw on block road hubs which have had the axle changed to a threaded axle and spacers moved (I've done that myself) .. I'm sure these are single speed only or "suicide fixed" as once you get the single speed freewheel off you won't have a lock ring thread.
No mention of the rim model used? But I'm sure with some Google of Ebay you could get a estimate on approximate value of parts in the build .. I think the rims may be Ambrosio Excellence?

Not worth it at all. look like conversions, call them out for that and refuse to pay.
-
• #14
My gut feeling is that they are also not worth it. Not to worry I will reply once I am home.

The axles sure as shit aint Record Pista. Tell em to jog on and cool yer jets...

The spacing between my dropouts is 125mm, is this a problem when finding vintage wheelsets?
-
• #17

So road frame with track wheels? Maybe try and get a track frame?
There is a proper set of Record Pista track wheels on the forum somewhere for apprx 160 I think.. non matching rims, but thats something you could sort for a few extra quid...Have you told the ebay people to jog on?

I am restoring a vintage road frame so buying another frame is out the question really...is there no other way to convert track wheels to a road frame? spacers on either side for 5mm?
-

Thanks for those wheels, I'd rather get a matching set as I dont rreally want the hassle of getting the wheel relaced. Still that rear campy pista hub is tempting,...
I have cancelled the purchase off ebay. lucky I am not a magpie otherwise the shinyness alone would have had me...

I believe the new eBay rules say even if offer is accepted there is no commitment until/unless buyer pays.
Is this true? Can you say you will buy something, and then ask if it is right / will it fit / do I really want it?
Another reason to avoid ebay if it is. Although sadly it happens on here too.

They were nice wheels ruined by being converted to SS...
You can space out most hubs to fit road frames but it makes sense to put gears on a road frame... -

I already have a geared road bike and I really want to make this bike as light as possible, hence wanting to run it fixed and one gear.
So just so I am clear, the axle on any wheelset i.e. track will be long enough its the size of the hub which is different for track and road wheels? To fit track wheels into a road frame to run fixed you can use spacers between the nuts to widen it?
Sorry for my silly questions.
Hi all, I require some urgent help, I have seen a set of wheels on ebay from Velocissimo that I have bid and he has accepted my offer.
I totally forgot to ask whether they can be converted to fixed gear and also I do not know whether they will fit my Lejeune frame. 120mm rear spacing. How do I measure the frame for spacing?
Are they worth the price? I offered £240

Much appreciated.
