I bought a Concorde road frame with a "Reynolds 753 Renovated" sticker. Has nice lugs and Campagnolo dropouts, 27.2mm seat tube, BSA 68mm BB, and a big dent in the top tube where something fell on the middle cable guide.
The crease at the edge of this dent has become a crack. There is also what I think is a crack at the top of the right seat stay: the stay passes the side of the seat cluster lug and has the elliptical plate blocking off the end of the tube. There is a patch of rust in the crevice between this tube-end and the lug and a crack-line crosses the end of the ellipse. This one could probably be cleaned up and filled with braze, but I think the top tube would need cutting and sleeving if it were repaired without disturbing the lugs.
I can't find anything online which suggests Concorde ever contracted out to a builder who used Reynolds, all the other Concordes I've seen have been Columbus tubing. Reynolds were sensitive about who they supplied 753 to, as it's essentially very thin heat-treated 531, and a poor build would be flexy and fragile (hah!).
The frame cost me less than £40 including a train journey, is a repair doable and worth it? It'd be a shame to lose the awesome paintjob, but I can hear the toptube crack stressing as I ride.
[Will add pics later if I remember]
yeah thats what i'm aiming for just trying to work out if i'm gonna be getting ripped off and if i actually need another lo-pro.......
