K fair enough if sponsorship is not the way. I concede.
I visited the prudential London Ride and watched the sponsorship and setups. That must've cost a huge amount for the sponsors. 15,883 Riders.
I know of smaller Red Bull guerrilla campaigns that cost easily a £1500 per day and they currently don't have the visibility in terms of numbers that you now command on this list.
Memberships and all costs etc with these numbers if their was sponsorship would easily be free.
Something to think on. Freeness for LFGSS CC members all because they have a coca cola/red bull etc sign on their back. Clever.
Free is an attractive price point. And I've been doing the math on costs this past week and think it can be achieved by only adding a couple of quid onto the cost price of jerseys and caps.
Which means still having very affordable strip, of great quality, whilst also having the membership fee be zero.
I won't do the "You signed up to LFGSS (the forum) so you are a member of LFGSS (the cycle club)", as I think that smells bad and isn't actually promoting cycling.
In fact I'll not overly push the club into people's faces other than point out it's there and there are some perks to it such as the stuff people organise, our compelling price, the affiliation with BC for those tempted to race, etc.
It'll be open, free (or virtually so), and easy to do whatever the hell you wish.
And any money we do make, accidentally, I'll just pour into prizes for events, or the events themselves (including post-sport socials... beer!).
