  • Ah, that's someone I don't recall seeing.

Yes, I got the usual cameraphone shots.

  • I think they'd be in trouble with their sponsors if Sky didn't show it.

We went along for the mens' and got a good seat in the grandstands. The kids got bored and went home, but we really enjoyed it. There was some great racing.

  • Womens final 2013

  • At the Archie Wilkinson stand.

  • Nice selection. There is the group Archie Wilkinson Bicycles for any that are definately Archies.

  • Great photos!

That city bike looked interesting for £299. The frames on sale were alu with steel forks, but the city bike was all steel. Are those Archie Wilkinsons nice to ride?

  • Thanks. The City Bike is built from a cycle speedway frame. Mine is a black one built up as a 3-speed and is nice to ride. I wish had gone there on it to show Archie.

  • Does anyone know when the next home meeting in Sept is? I saw a brief glimpse of it mentioned on screen on the finals day but so brief I didn't get a chance to see it properly.

  • NEXT HOME MATCH

This Sunday 8 Sept at 2pm

    Chris Allen Memorial Trophy

16 rider, 20 heat individual meeting. All riders are connected with either the Coventry club, or come from the Coventry area, including five Bretford riders.

Chris Allen rode for Brandon Bees. In 1973, in a match at Hearsall Common, Chris collapsed after a race. Sadly, he died shortly afterwards.

Sundays meeting is in his honour and was first staged in 1974 for Coventry area riders. Due to the fantastic revival and interest in the sport in Coventry again, the meeting is being revived. It is being sponsored by Mike Allen, Chris Allen`s older brother.

Present day riders Dave Frith and Norman Venson have previously won the Chris Allen Trophy, whilst Joe Mc has won in three times in a row.

The match is followed by Coventry U13s V Bretford U13s.

Coventry are at Leicester this Tuesday in the Midland League Div One, 7.30pm start.
