  • Less than 60?

  • Are you a spinner or a grinder?

  • More like Grindr

  • Just had a look, I tend to ride 50/55/60 (i.e. got a ten speed cassette but tend to wear out these three gears first).

  • First go on the cross bike. Went round peckham rye, dulwich park, brockwell and telegraph hill park. Picked the worst day as the sun meant all were super busy.
What's the best park in south-east london for practising bike handling?

  • There's some good stuff in Crystal Palace Park, around the north west end of the park. It tends to be quite quiet there too.

But, to be honest, you don't need anything too technical to practise things like cornering, dismounts and remounts.

  • Probably the central league training day, mention of it below but no venue details yet:

This has been cancelled - no suitable venue apparently. Shame.

Looks like Fowlmead, kent for the 15th Sept. Who's in?

  • Has that one been confirmed yet? It was 50/50 earlier in the year.

  • Interested, but no rail service on the day at Deal or Sandwich, so will have to ride from Dover or Ramsgate.

It's on the LL event calendar...so I'd say yes. But hey, stranger things have happened.

    Zipvan tempts me.

  • Definitely in for Zipvan. looks like it'll cost 95 for 24hours + 35ish for petrol

Should be reasonable if we get at least 5 people?

  • Yeah that's what I was thinking. However there's only three seats. But still a possibility.

Fuck that. It's closer to France than London.

Ask daccordi about the time he got the train down there, I think he just made it back to London in time for the next round.

  • True.

If the course was good, the weather charitable and the cost not prohibitive I would consider giving the entire day to it and vanning it though.

Unless there's a race on the same day that's easier to access?

  • I sometimes go there as owing to the small field I get more points for that one race than I do for the rest of the season.

    Not around this year though.

  • It is, by all accounts, a fantastic course.

  • Might be worth a punt then. Will try anything once, etc.

  • I'm racing again this season. Fowlmead is the highlight of the year in terms of course IMHO

Footscray is the best though in terms of history and between xmas and new year awesomeness.

  • At Cowley, sounds like it will be a mini race.

Is that my coat over there, it's OK I'll get it.

  • Don't you think it'll be a pretty secretive race?

  • Shtaaappp!

  • Is Ally Pally suitable for practising? or should I head up to Epping/Richmond?

  • It's fine, most races are a series of dead turns on grass, camber sections and short ramp ups, easily doable at ally pally.

  • Saturday AM - three pimples ride - who is in? Meet crystal palace station. Time TBD

Sunday - LL Deal - I am still tempted to drive down. Anyone want to come with?
