  • Does the camera angle make it look too large for the rider as well?

  • Stem is pretty long, guess they have small legs.

  • ^^also this.

  • ^^so why build a custom frame with such geo?

  • ^^so why build a custom frame with such geo?

    What I was wondering.

  • Hah, I'm flattered this was posted here - but it's certainly not bike porn worthy, like many others have said. Mismatched cages and the like...

My proportions are a bit wonky, and this frame was built on a road stage template that's a bit aggressive. It's a 53cm seat tube with a 52cm top tube and 110mm stem, and though the perspective makes it look funky it was built to fit my geometry and does fit me perfectly.

I would have loved to do internal cable routing, but that's an advanced technique and quite time consuming, so it wasn't offered in my class.

  • Wel, with some decent taped bars and two matching cages + a good angled photo, it would come at least close to porn.

  • Point taken. I'll work on my photography skills and upgrade some things :]

  • I'd be chuffed it ended up in here and to hell with the criticism.........

Tapes an easy fix though ;)

bollocks it is, even has a thread devoted to it

  • Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm flattered! If I had known it would though I would have paid a bit more attention to detail during the photography...and would have retaped it.

I don't mind the criticism at all! Everyone's entitled to their opinion, and it helps me learn what to do better next time.

    This is fantastic. Thank you.

  • If you built your own frame, that's pretty cool. Did you consider going for a compact geo / upward sloping top tube and a bit more post?

Thank you! And truth be told, Mr. Yamaguchi was the main driver of the geometry in my class, and I don't think we had the option to do a sloping top tube (though the frame, fork, and stem all had to work together and I had to have all of the components picked before we designed the frame.) I learned a lot about templates, geometry, body measurements, how to build for certain body types, etc., so in the future it's something I can play around with. Despite how funky it looks, it truly does fit me perfectly, and that's after a professional fitting on top of the custom geometry.

  • You can never have too much seat post... grow longer legs if needed.

Can't argue with that. It's more the photo squashing it than the bicycle itself I think.

  • Thank you! Etc.

I was just reading your blog as I'd not seen it before and my goodness your Takhion's are saweeeet! Did you ever managed to get the forks repaired?

  • That Pretorious is sick, but definitely needs bigger tyres.
