About 5:45pm this afternoon, my wife & 4yr old son witnessed at close hand a single-decker TfL bus (they think a 450) drive right in to the back of a teenage boy (13 ish) cycling along Church Road (Upper Norwood / Crystal Palace) on a black and white MTB/hybrid.
The boy was riding in primary on a narrow stretch - the road is part coned off at the moment due to a building collapse - the bus accelerated hard away from the lights, apparently failed to see him & hit him at around 15mph.
He was thrown from the bike, shaken up & with a nasty scrape to his leg, but was otherwise apparently uninjured - was on his feet pretty quickly & remonstrating with the driver; the bike's front wheel had ended up under the bus and wrecked.
The bus driver stopped at the scene & one of the other witnesses took down his number plate and other details. A couple of people stayed with the cyclist to make sure he was OK.
Should anyone directly involved be reading this & need a formal eyewitness statement, my wife would be prepared to do so, PM me & I'll pass on her details.
