Okay time to report progress.
I received the veloce 9 speed rear dérailleur today.
I replaced the jockey wheels with my 8 speed tacx wheels and fitted the dérailleur to the bike.PROBLEM SOLVED !!!
The group indexes properly !!!
Conclusion my old dérailleur was not suitable for index shifting.
I still get some noise from the jockey wheels when stretching the chain (i.e. large front and rear sprocket) but I think its from mixing brands KMC chain/ campy dérailleur/ tacx jockey wheels

Check the "B" adjuster screw: sounds like the jockey wheel cage could be a little high.

Cheers
Do you mean losen the screw to bring the jockey wheels closer to the large sprocket? (or the oposite?)

The opposite: my *guess *is that they are too close to the sprocket. A regular, clicking/ticking noise?
Cheers Jon
I tried both routings but no improvement!
The channel for the cable on my derailleur is actually on the top site!
Like this pic:
routing the cable under the bolt made things worse !
I guess per the previous posters my derailleur is not indexed shifting compatible !
