  • Lovely watch though, good luck to you Sir!

  • Should've got one of your wrist in front of the Mercedes team bus.

But I wasn't at the Merc factory today...

  • Lovely watch though, good luck to you Sir!

    Thank you, kind Sir!

  • Holy shit, you work for an F1 team?!

  • Background porn...

  • Lovely!

  • ^^^ guilty.

  • Sweet. I've got one of Mario Andretti's piston heads. (Mate related to Collin Chapman) It's a big dirty paperweight.

  • Nice.

  • Looks nice Gridds. Do you worth at Hethal or is the race team based near Silverstone or somewhere?

  • Enstone.

  • Stonehedge. Interested in that watch you posted up the page if Ricky doesn't want it. How much you looking for?

  • Very nice gridds.

I would love an IWC one day.

For now I think I have settled for this Sinn someone posted earlier.

    Will go see Jura :)

  • That is stunning. Great choice. Question; is that a carbon strap?

    My new watch arrived today.

It's even more impressive in person. Awesome watch, very pleased I made this choice.

  • ^ Thanks and nope. Rubber. With a fabric weave pattern which supposedly mimics the fabric straps used on ye olde divers watches. It's actually alright but I'm thinking about getting a leather or aligator skin one.

  • Oh ok.. I think the strap looks fine (from what I can tell in your piccy). Personally I don't like leather on divers (what's the point?). Also I really like that yours has a 'modern' take on the diver that isn't just yet another sub homage/variant... It's not vintage and it's not dress, so I think leather will look wrong on it.

At any rate, it's a lush watch.

  • Cheers, yeah I see your point. It would only be for comfort reasons and in fact the gold and platinum versions of this Vintage Collection Aquatimer came with alligator straps as standard. Looks quite nice.

  • ^^ I'd say it's actually very retro in its inspiration. Reminds me of the old compressors from the 70s. Would look great on genuine sharkskin gridds.

And nice choice by the way. Does it wear massive or is it not too bad on the wrist?

  • Thanks! Doesn't wear massive, no. Very comfortable size indeed.

  • Personally I don't like leather on divers (what's the point?).

I agree with you however in my eyes, a diving style watch doesn't become a diving watch unless you actually dive with it.

  • ^ True... but equally would you put a nato on a dress watch, gator on a military watch, mesh bracelet on plastic swatch? Leather on divers is not for me. Horses for courses.

Incidentally what's the internal bezel click like? I've played with a few watches with internal diver bezels and haven't been satisfied by the amount of play between clicks.

  • Font, hands, and bezel suggest modern rather than retro to me. All of which I like btw.

^^ I'd say it's actually very retro in its inspiration. Reminds me of the old compressors from the 70s.

  • ^ Key word in my comment was 'inspiration' to me it's a modern take on a vintage classic :)

  • Horses for courses.

This particular horse is going through a rubber fetish.

It's not bad tbh. There is a little play but there are satisfying and audible clicks at the second markers. I like it.

I'll keep my options open for the strap. I'll see how I go with the rubber. Quite like the idea of sharkskin though!
