3-4 day tour around August bank holiday

Posted on
  • Anyone interested in doing a 3-4 day tour around the upcoming bank holiday on 26 August, starting on Thursday/Friday and back in London on Monday/Tuesday? I am looking at routes in Wales but not set yet. My plan is to ride 100-150km a day and stay in B&B (potentially camping).

  • Hi, you may have trouble with getting a pitch that weekend.

I d suggest getting a train out of London to your starting point; Brentwood, for example, is a good place to start for the east coast.

From there you can ride up through Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk and then get the train back from some where like Cromer.

  • thanks peter, was going to post something up here.

i was thinking of doing something with the mrs this bank holiday. now she isn't really a cyclist (not yet anyway!) and the furthest she's done in one day is 30miles. now can anyone think of a suitable tour that we could do for fri / sat / sun and come back to london on monday? camping is fine.

was thinking of trying to get across to france but knowing me i'd either get lost, run out of food and thoroughly put her off cycling for life! so need to think of somewhere that would be 'easy' touring.

    any ideas?

  • Never speak of how many miles left, keep those to yourself.

Speak about how many hours on the saddle if she want to know.

Plus, cycle touring is all enjoying the country, 30 miles a day mean lots of stopping, taking photos and exploring.

  • Did you go?

    If so where?
