Maybe a bit left field (though you did say classic looking...lol)
I've got a NOS Stronglight 80 chainset that can fit rings anywhere from 52 to 28 (so IMO better than modern compacts), as it has an 86mm BCD, rings still widely available but I have a 50 & 36 to go or indeed a 48 and a 32.
With the latter you can run an 11-25 and still have a decent 115" top but have a 34" low, with smaller ratio jumps in the 3 big sprockets (compared to say a 11-27/28 that are popular)
It's circa 550g without crank bolts though I have some NOS cranks bolts & the matching Stronglight Crank caps to go with it.
By comparison a Campag Centaur Carbon is quoted as 740g with the Hollowtype axle BB and a Shimano 7900 crankset is 675g similarly.
You'd need a BB approx 116-118mm in length.
I run an earlier 70s variant on my 50s 531 Carlton (with a 118mm titanium axled BB) and can turn it into a triple easily with longer chainring bolts.
