Keep an eye on their twitter feed: https://twitter.com/HerneHillVel
I interpreted this as keeping an eye on the rain's twitter feed and thought "I bet the rain is enough of a dick to have one of those where it gloats about ruining everything"

Yellow warning of Rain
Issued at:
1221 on Fri 23 Aug 2013Valid from:
0005 on Sat 24 Aug 2013Valid to:
2300 on Sat 24 Aug 2013Warning:
Outbreaks of rain affecting parts of England and northeast Wales during Saturday are likely to be heavy in places, with the risk of torrential thundery downpours, lightning and local accumulations in excess of 40 mm within just a few hours. The highest probability of heavy rain is considered to be towards the east and southeast of England. The public should be aware of possible localised surface water flooding where this occurs, as well as some disruption in general to summer outdoor activities.
Chief Forecaster's assessment:
A frontal zone stalling over central and eastern Britain will produce spells of thundery rain or showers at times through Saturday. Exactly where the heaviest rain occurs remains somewhat uncertain, but with the focus probably towards the south and east of the area shown, whilst northern and western parts of the region may improve later on Saturday. As in many thundery situations, there will be a great deal of variation in rainfall over small distances, with some areas inevitably escaping the heaviest of the rainfall.Oh, what.

The weather is trolling us. "Exactly where the heaviest rain occurs is uncertain" - I bet you a tenner it's Burbage Road, SE24...

We can make a pretty good guess by looking at http://www.raintoday.co.uk/
See how the winds carry the rain in a perfect trollface shape directly over London, round and round

Sunshine and showers right? Not endless rain, y'all need to look at picking that moment and opportunities to win quality swag..
Years of cricket and sailing makes me the ultimate optimist ;) -

No, it's not sunshine and showers. That's not usually a problem as wind and sun will dry the track quickly.
What I'm seeing outside is persistent rain and heavy cloud, and not enough wind to shift either.
An educated guess would be if the rain stops and the cloud cover/moisture in the air clears, then you'd have around 2 hours before the track is safe to ride (sooner if it was very windy and sunny).

And besides its an anticyclone the circuit is in the middle of the maelstrom.. We'll be chasing the clouds as we ride round..

HHV does have it's own ecosystem. For all you know it might be bathed in sunshine right now.

Yesterday I read Luke Howard's "on the modification of clouds" and I have to say it looks like we're fucked for today :( :(
Raining steadily here, 1mile from HHV.

• #623
I will be heading down anyway and presuming others will be too, even if it's only to ride back up again?
-
• #624
Less than 1 mile from HH, rain has been falling like mad since 4am. Oh well no need to water the garden..
