My pedal strike was also based on my previous huge pedals with hold fast straps. but that being said I have lean for days with 160mm and to be honest I don't think anyone has been able to visually tell the difference ever. To everyone I've met thinks they are 165mm.
Until I burst their bubble and everyone then says. Whoa that is really short crank length... sort of replies. On the plus side never had pedal strike again. :)
