  • face it andy, you're part of the problem

  • Close to the top.

At least you've actually ridden on a track (back in the dim and distant past).

    Don't remind me.
I will be back though. I've been keeping myself fit in what little time I have so it's not completely over for me yet

  • My commute takes me through Hyde Park on some days - I have never seen such stupid bike riding in my life as I do on the mixed use paths. A perfect storm of commuter heros and confused, frightened tourists.

That shared path option made me change my commute.

  • That shared path option made me change my commute.

South bound Park Lane is actually pretty fun. As long as you're at the same speed as traffic it's fine. Shame about Marble Arch roundabout, but then you have South Carriage Drive and MORE SPEED.

Can't believe I'm reminiscing about my commute, now that I'll never do it again. Now all I have is super-serious Bikeradar guys doing 'proper riding'.

I almost miss the hapless twats on Boris bikes.

  • The Birmingham nodder super highway goes through a park with mixed use paths, some of them are quite narrow. Went through there the other day, slowing right down as there were a number of small kids running about. A nodder train overtakes me, who where then overtaken by an alpha nodder - headphones on, head down, blowing like Ivor the engine, who ended up missing a small child by inches.

This in abundance. Surrey Cnanal Park, Peckham every evening and morning.

Everyone giving it the Johnny Big Potatoes.

As soon as we merge with Trafalgar lane they pootle along.

Ride fast on the road not on shared paths.

    Really really fucks me off.

  • ...And don't get me started on Peckham Rye Lane.

Absolute fool this morning backs into me from the pavement, I don't see him as I'm on the road.

he steps out..... his back goes into my shoulder knocking my hand off my bullhorns and unclipping my left legs, he hits the deck.

    out of nowhere.

I just about recover and don't (miraculously) fall off. Turn round to see him shouting at me on the floor!!!

Who the fuck walks backward onto a main road??

  • Fuck you!

I was in Brockwell Park with another forumite yesterday, and it was surprising to see so many people, mainly men, doing laps of the park on a shared use path.

I have to admit that I go down to Dulwich park to tool around slowly whenever I've done some work on a bike in order to allow bits of fall off in a controlled environment.

In my defence I go very slowly, often with an icecream in one hand.

  • Oh fuck, I broke the "never ever read the comments ever" rule there. Doh.

+1000000 points to Gryffindor for Jennifer Lawrence gif too

    and this:

'You never actually own a bike, you merely look after it for the next thieving bastard'.

  • Crossroads in Shoreditch this morning crawling with Mickey Mouse coppers catching out RLJumpers, ASL dwelling cars and mopeds, all in all well done to them, would loved to have observed for a bit, bit pissed off that one of them was having a go at me for not being advanced far enough into the ASL (I was turning left and there were two other bikes in front of me going straight ahead), when I was blatantly a good foot past the ASL Junction (triangle of broken lines), honestly, you give a man a bit of power...
Did it suddenly become compulsory to pass the ASL if you're on a bike?

  • Fuck you!

There's a running track near by. I play touch rugby on the pitch in the middle, and have used the soft running surface to teach my kids to cycle. When its not being used of course.

Now every Tuesday night, I'm there playing touch, and these two portly middle aged men turn up. Riding what used to be road bikes. But now have terribly lowered saddles, spacer stacks, and flat MTB pedals. They do lap after lap. Nearly always in the opposite direction to the training track runners.

I honestly think they're learning to ride these new bikes. Part of me salutes them for getting off the couch, and starting an active hobby.

.....most of me simply dreads the day they start sharing the road with me.

  • Fucking nodder. Black single speed folder with a coaster bike and a bag full of wine badle balanced on your shoulder. Slow and wobbly like you're scared stiff of dropping that bag. Well bring a fucking proper bag for your waitrose trip you middle class wanker. And get another brake.

    Oh, it was me.

  • What is a nodder?

  • What is a nodder?

    You.

  • If you have to ask..

  • He wouldn't let it lie…

  • He wouldn't let it lie…

    Fancy a bum?

  • Depends whose bum it is I suppose!

Don't want hippy getting jealous. He's intolerable when he's in a sulk.

We've all seen that fucker nodding like an old pro down the old Kent road.....

    fucking hippies, I shit 'em.

Nothing worse than a complacent old hippy.

  • Have they all gone into hibernation? Already?

  • Another sunny week, and they'll be back.

  • Apparently yesterday was national ride your bike to work day, but it didn't seem so bad. I'm just looking forward to buying some winter gear. merino everything.

  • Another sunny week, and they'll be back.

    :(

  • How has this thread been buried for 10 years? Anyway, shout out to all of them doing their best today.
